Ampelodesmos mauritanicus - a robust, perennial, rhizomatous herbaceous plant that can reach 2 to 3 m tall. The species with short rhizomes is strongly horny. The leaves are rough to the touch, the ligule is membranous, lanceolate and with a ciliate margin. The inflorescence is a panicle of spikelets with 2 to 5 flowers. The slightly uneven glumes are often reddish. The lemmas have hairs. Family : Poaceae
